Dine, Shop & Make Art in Somerset
The village of Somerset is a quintessential small town with friendly pubs, a corner hardware store, grocery and some hidden gem spots – it’s a place you’ll want to return to and share with friends. The historic, streetscape will remind you of a time when life was slower, simpler and very friendly.
You’ll find regional artists’ creations at the Somerset Artists Co-Op where you can make your own art! The Studio at the Co-Op has three pottery firing kilns and a glass enameling kiln with instructors specializing in pottery throwing, stained glass making, silversmithing, metalworking, jewelry making, acrylic and watercolor painting. Check out the current Class Schedule and reserve seats online. You can even schedule a private class in advance – check out their Book a Private Class page.
Have crafty friends? Love the 70s? Check out The Groovy Craft Shack – available for weekend bookings – minimum 6 guests where furnishings are funky and the craft accommodations are functional! Bring your crafts and enjoy a weekend together being makers!
Drop into Gypsy Hawaii for unique crystals, candles, gifts and handmade goods – located right on the Rt. 22, a block from Somerset’s unique town square rotary.
Somerset’s unusual roundabout is the only one in the state of Ohio where vehicles entering the roundabout have the right-of-way. So, when you hit that roundabout, keep going (with caution) – others already in the roundabout should yield to you.
Take a break from your shopping to enjoy some wonderful food from local chefs who bring skills from house-smoked meats to French cuisine at Épicerie & Les Fleurs(Rt. 22, a block from the rotary), German favorites at The Clay Haus (Rt. 22, a block from the rotary) and unbeatable house-smoked chicken wings, fantastic pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, entrées at Strong & Co. (right on the rotary) – there’s something for everyone. There are two pizza places in town – Montell’s and Nick’s.
Park once and wander the streets to find fun around every corner. Here’s the round-up of places to experience. Fair warning – it’s pretty hard to get it all in one day – feel free to come back again and again!
